Tapalpa, Jalisco flight

The Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe began in 1950 and was completed between 1974 and 1976. On the Sanctuary grounds there are many other buildings, including the original chapel on the exact site of the apparitions to Juan Diego (Capilla del Cerrito) and the Old Basilica consecrated in 1709, as well as other chapels where Masses and other sacraments of the Church are celebrated daily.  A little about Tapalpa; In 1523, the Spanish, led by Alonso de Ávalos Saavedra, reached the region. By 1825, Tapalpa was already registered as a town and in 1869 it was declared a municipality. The first paper factory in Latin America was opened in Tapalpa in 1840. The factory shut down and was abandoned in 1923 due to the Mexican Revolution. Today its abandoned ruins have become a tourist attraction. Population is about 19,500. (info from the wiki pages)
