Loreto to La Paz the hard way

Early start this morning to play with the 360º camera and fuel up. A significant dirt section is planned, 135 miles of desert and coastal roads. The orange section on the map is dirt, most of it your average, level-ish desert dirt road. It is becoming steep at times and is a mixture of softball sized rocks and boulders within 8 miles of the fishing village of San Evaristo on the Sea of Cortez. I'm committing now, knowing I can't back and hopeful the other coastal road out is passable. Otherwise hiring a truck to haul me back up this way is the only other option going through my mind. The batteries have died on all the cameras as I’m deciding to push on to La Paz, trust me, beautiful and interesting

Puerto San Francisquito to Mulegé

It's so quiet here every little noise is noticeable. All night the sound of the wind put images of animals in my head - some sort of coyotes. This morning it's more dirt road, about 80 miles of it then paved highway to the "lush" town of Mulegé on the Sea of

Puerto San Francisquito

Four hours of challenging dirt road south of Bahia Los Angeles sits remote Puerto San Franciscito. There are only two other people in the area today. It’s the first time the air is warm enough to think about getting in the water. I was planning to take a swim until I noticed the white sandy bottom is littered with

Puerto San Francisquito camp

Very remote, unique, beautiful bay that holds a hidden danger on it's sandy bottom. My first thought is to go swimming until I notice the many, many stingrays! The temperature is perfect, a light breeze as the sun is setting, warm colorful desert and a remarkably blue Sea of

Bahia de los Angeles to puerto San Francisquito

A few very challenging sections of road almost got me. It may look at times like I'm riding very fast - thats the beauty of action cameras, they make it look very exciting. The truth is often 20-30 mph is all the faster I can go when it's so rough and soft. Some stretches might see 50 mph. High winds kept the drone down most of the way. This ride is a good test of confidence ending with a beautiful and unusual bay, puerto San Francisquito. More video of the bay to

Stormy ride: San Felipé to Bahía de los Ángeles

The wind really picked up in the night and rain is expected further south on this leg of the trip. The long section of dirt road, apparently, has a couple ways to go. Beautiful bays and views mixed with wicked crosswinds make this very challenging at
